Primary Substance Abuse Groups

PHASE I: 15 Week duration (2 hour sessions); weekly group sessions provides a biopsychosocial -educational model utilizing self-evaluation, lectures, group and/or individual therapy to determine level and progress of the addiction while confronting denial and other negative psychological symptoms of the problem and/or disease in a non-judgmental environment conducive to healing. 12 step, Smart Recovery, Families Anonymous, Ala-non/ACOA, self-help programs, and ancillary community resources are utilized in addition to conferences with family, significant others and referral sources.

Relapse Prevention Therapy Groups

PHASE II : 24 Week duration (2 hour sessions): weekly or Bi- weekly group sessions (depending on needs). Addiction is an illness that is predictable and treatable. However, a pre-existing or co-occurring psychiatric disorder and underlying trauma can complicate recovery efforts. In addition, chronic pain has been a significant factor in the rate of recidivism among relapses. Developing simultaneous treatment is necessary while honoring gender specific issues for the individual to recover from both disorders. The emphasis is to promote empowerment, confidence and an altruistic perspective thus allowing individuals to exhaust unhealthy patterns of behavior and “awaken or reawaken” a more productive and loving identity.

CO-OCCURRING DISORDERS: MENTAL HEALTH &/OR CHRONIC PAIN/MEDICAL DISORDERS

Often times individuals have been using drugs and/or alcohol to offset mental health symptoms or a mental illness has been concealed by the use of these chemicals. Chronic pain issues are especially problematic in recovery as attempts to withdrawal from the chemicals magnify "true pain" versus "accurate pain" creating a cyclical effect that is difficult to break, feelings of hopelessness emerge and relapse is imminent. For individuals to obtain, sustain wellness and recovery from all disorders it is imperative the provider possess a specific expertise to intelligently collaborate with healthcare professionals i.e. Psychiatrist, Medical & Specialist Physicians, Nutritionist, Physical Therapies, and Alternative Therapies. HGR provides such services by creating a true treatment team approach ensuring communication between all professionals in unison with our clients.
