Justine C. Baker, LPC-R, QMHP
Resident in Counseling
Justine C. Baker, RC, QMHP is a Resident in Counseling and Qualified Mental Health Professional at Higher Ground Recovery with over 8 years of experience in the field. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Virginia in 2013 followed by her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University in 2021. Prior to joining HGR, she worked as an Outreach Care Specialist with the Addiction and Recovery Treatment Services Program, assessing the needs of individuals and working with other professionals to connect them with the most effective services.
During her practicum and clinical internship, she has enjoyed working with the Adult Substance Abuse (SA) Psychoeducation groups where she provides a thorough SA knowledge base to allow individuals’ to explore their relationship to alcohol/drugs, as well as Individual Therapy to adolescent and adult populations addressing co-occurring disorders including anxiety, depression, child of an addict/alcoholic/dysfunction, ADHD, or other surfacing disorders including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bi-polar, or Schizophrenia.
Justine specializes in adolescent and young adult populations. She utilizes a collaborative and eclectic approach to help these individuals address life challenges and transitions. By applying a holistic model of care, Justine helps them navigate peer relationships, parental boundaries, school pressures, and the allure of alcohol/drugs. She enjoys the wrap around services in partnering with medical professionals, schools, family, and community self-help programs. She recognizes that parental involvement is essential in the healthy development of youth and partners with them to provide suggestions regarding boundaries, communication skills, and logical consequences to address challenging behaviors.
Justine prides herself in her approachability and is passionate about fostering a safe, non-judgmental environment that permits individuals to share their insecurities, fears and vulnerabilities. Currently, she is earning a certification in Somatic Trauma Therapy.
